WILDFLOWERS

Feature film

Lost, untethered and not sure what to do with his life, Will Beckett runs away to Tasmania to work on a film set. He's at the bottom of the food chain, an assistant to the famous movie star who has come over from London — mysterious Max Ellery. Max is at the top of the food chain, the lead in the period tragedy Wildflowers, suitably rude and aloof. But as cameras start rolling, it becomes clear Max is struggling with the role and it’s only isolating him further from the other cast and crew. On a whim, Will offers to help. And over early morning starts and car rides to set, the ice between the men starts to thaw. A reluctant friendship blooms — and then, to both their surprise, the spark of something more. Will and Max fall into a profound and life-altering love affair that is kept a secret on set, and mirrors the forbidden love portrayed in the period film that forms the backdrop to their romance. As the end of the shoot looms near, threatening to burst their bubble, the reality of Max’s fame comes into sharp focus. Struggling to see how they could make it work certain that he knows how this will end, Will leaves the shoot without saying goodbye. Heartbroken, the men return to their lives. But nine months later, Will recieves an invite to the premiere of Wildflowers… where Max is waiting for him.
