WHEN THE GROUND PAUSED

Short film, 2026

Calida is 20, a mother of two, moving through the uneven terrain of motherhood while carrying the weight of her own unresolved youth. WHEN THE GROUND PAUSED unfolds as a poetic, observational portrait of a life in flux. Moving between playgrounds, classrooms, and restless hours at home, the film quietly circle’s Calida’s experience of mental health through the lens of care, both for her children and for herself. Sitting with the contradictions of motherhood — tenderness and exhaustion, love and fear, responsibility and longing — WHEN THE GROUND PAUSED is a meditation on care as both burden and possibility, and on the fragile hope of interrupting inherited cycles.
